My work explores the fine line between comfort and menace in our most common stories and shared experiences. The place where they meet is sometimes fraught with tension, sometimes filled with magic.
Recently, I’ve become obsessed with the idea of saints, and what makes them so. Many saints seem themselves to be the stuff of myth and legend, converted to a newer faith. And who are the saints in a secular society?
I have been creating my own saints: recycling reliquaries, raising the downtrodden, celebrating ordinary people who rise to their time, and mourning our modern LGBLTQ+ martyrs.
